Mission Statement
The Gaston Community Concert Band (DBA Gaston Symphonic Band) was organized to provide a musical program of the highest standards for area musicians,
allowing those individuals who obtain membership an opportunity to participate in a concert environment and develop their musical skills while performing with other
musicians and to provide for the community a cultural setting where all citizens may benefit. Organized exclusively for charitable and educational purposes, including, for
such purposes, the making of distributions to organizations under section 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code, or corresponding section of any future federal tax
code. Openings
The Gaston Symphonic Band announces the following immediate openings for:
- Clarinet
- French horn
- Alto Saxophone
- Baritone Saxophone
- Bass Clarinet
- Bassoon
- Flute
- Oboe
- Percussion
- Other, as prescribed by the Music Director
Things You Should Know
If you are interested in joining our group, there are a few things you should know:
Qualifications:
Any interested individual may be considered a candidate provided the Music Director has judged a vacancy exists.
Applications:
A candidate is required to submit a written application that will be reviewed by the Membership Committee. The Membershiop Committee will forward the application to the
Music Director. The Music Director will then approve or deny membership. A formal audition is generally not required.
Dues:
Membership will not become effective until all dues and fees have been paid in full.
Nondiscrimination:
The organization shall not discriminate against any person on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, marital status, age, handicap, disability, or
familial status.
Attendance:
All members are expected to attend all rehearsals and concerts. Members will be dropped from the roster for excessive absences.
To Join...
To join the Gaston Symphonic Band, please attend one of our regularly scheduled rehearsals, beginning at 7:00pm each Thursday evening throughout the concert season.
Rehearsals are held at Grier Middle School, in the bandroom.
